Mineral Makeup overview

Mineral makeup ... it's everywhere. Most of us have tried it in some shape or form by now but how much do we really know about this much hyped product?
I am an avid user of mineral makeup. When I first heard of it a few years ago, it sounded like the answer to my problems; sensitive, acne skin wants high coverage but natural foundation! I thought I found it and have used a variety of brands since then but recently, I started investigating mineral makeup further...

What is it?

Essentially, mineral makeup is makeup that is composed of natural, earth minerals that have been finely ground.
Rumour has it that it was first created in the 70s, in California.

Is it good/better for us?

Critics say that mineral makeup is a marketing ploy. The key ingredients to most mineral cosmetics are mica, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and these are used in many other cosmetics that are not branded as mineral.

Sukí lemongrass cleanser review

I recieved my second tub of this cleanser as a Christmas present this year and have been using it consistently ever since. I discovered Sukí about 2 years ago when I started to become interested in natural skincare. I still use their ingredients glossary on their website to help me understand what chemical ingredients to avoid so, all in all, I love the company's ethos.

The company and products have gained in popularity and so, since I started using them, they have added makeup, hair products, a spa line etc etc which are all well worth checking out on their website.

So on to the cleanser...

Hi,

Welcome to A Certain Vintage. This blog aims to be, essentially, a beauty blog. I'm interested in vintage glamour and chemical free products that help us achieve it!

A Certain Vintage readers will find beauty tips from our grandmothers and articles on a variety of other things that bring a certain beauty to our lives.

I hope you find something of interest here and feel free to give me any suggestions if there is anything you would like to see on this blog!
