I struck lucky at the start of the year and won 2 return flights to Amsterdam with BMI Baby. Very, very lucky especially considering the only thing I've ever really won was a St. Patrick's Day cake someone's Mummy baked for a ballot in school. I am also sure I have probably mentioned that cake on this blog before.
So Amsterdam - loved it! I had been once before when I was much younger so hadn't known what to expect. We left in a bit of a hurry with no real time to plan which was unlike my last few holidays but a nice change. The weather was grand but was still quite cold a few weeks ago and I also didn't have much time to plan a perfect wardrobe either. That is my explaination for t he sometimes questionable outfits I am about to share with you. They were comfy and good for pounding concrete and (accidentally) felt a bit 90s which went with the abundance of 90s tunes in the coffee shops and the general chilled ' Dam vibe...yup.
Panic reading of the guidebook when we arrived and standard Amsterdam tourist pose with bicycles
I loved strolling along the canals and hopping on and off trams, feeling the different atmospheres in each little area. I really liked the Jordaan with its independent boutiques and picturesque canals. On our second day, we got blue skies and sunshine which made this leafier district even prettier.

My transport: beloved Bensimon hi-tops (or haute ankle!) in gris and trams. Was not brave enough to try and cycle with the Dutch!
I am in love with this Chanel nailpolish in April. Not quite a red or a pink, just a lovely creamy rose. Was a very fitting gift for my April birthday and a shop assistant in Amsterdam correctly guessed it was this very polish, impressive. I should have asked her if she had a beauty blog!
I wish this was my local cinema! The Tuschinski theatre is an original art deco building and beautiful inside, definitley worth poking your head into if you're near it.
Nursing a fresh mint tea before heading to the airport. I am aware I look a bit intense in this photograph, probably exhausted from walking the legs off myself! Ciao Amsterdam x
I will do another Amsterdam post this week - too many photos, not enough time! Just to say where I ate, shopped etc. because that's the kind of post I love to read when I am visiting a city and also because we ate some truly yummy food and I loved the shops.
Hope everyone is well. Normal(ish) service has been resumed
