Raindrops Stopped Falling On My Head

I have tried not to mention the rain, I really have but, two months of solid downpour is hard to ignore.  My defense this month and throughout June has been to comfort eat, appreciate fresh flowers and summer meals regardless and to purchase a raincoat that had 30% off as a rainy day deal.  Every cloud...  There have been a few ocassional bright days that I have embraced as much as I can by running outdoors in sandals.  One such day I was in Dublin and got a few outfit posts of one of my favourite new dresses in a beautiful walled garden.

I cut off a fair amount of my hair a few days after this picture, so say goodbye to it, for a while at least!

I love the 70s feel to this chevron dress.  I spied it in Urban Outfitters a few months back and was waiting to pick it up in the sale.  It's so easy to wear as a sundress and I especially love it with my current favourite shoes from Oasis.  My cardigan was another happy sale find from Swedish brand, Numph.  I love the subtle clouds printed into it and the coral buttons.  I first saw it online and fell in love, as I so often do with cardigans (Irish Summer wardrobe staple) so was excited to find it in a shop in Belfast.

And here's the raincoat to brighten up summer showers (a cutesy way of saying constant torrential rain and flooding that our car got stuck in).  Yes, I am wearing sunglasses and a polka dot lined souwester.  I thought buying a coat this practical would just be the thing to dry the weather up, Murphy's Law and all that, but I have had almost daily wear out of it.  I get to feel colourful and smugly practical everytime I wear it!

This month, I have finally been able to book a holiday. I didn't think I would be able to so I'm very excited to be leaving for a week of sunshine this Sunday. Last minute dash to buy t shirts I thought I'd never need and factor 50 this week is quite enjoyable!

A for Apple

In the midst of our not so sunny Summertime, let me share an outfit post! I was given  a nice opportunity by 'George' at Asda to select a few items to show. I wasn't sure what to go for, having never shopped for clothes or accesories at George before, then some things I liked weren't in my size etc. etc.  So, in the end I went for 2 fairly simple things I thought would fit into my wardrobe well; shoes and a shirt!

The shoes are my absolute favourite of the 2.  I've a lovely pair of nude heels that are punishingly high to wear so the ladylike block heel on these appeal to me. The size 4 are such a comfy fit on me that I'm considering getting the black pair for Autumn!
The shirt is nice and bright and I like wearing it knotted for a retro twist.  It's quite long so would look good not knotted with a straighter skirt.
Look at my personalised blog bag!  Such a thoughtful extra that they arrived with.

What do you think of my picks? I think the shoes are going to look great with some of my vintage dresses.  I feel like i'm trying to play dress up as a nursery school teacher or a librarian - 2 dream careers of mine as a child

I wish the rain would go away so I could do good blog pictures again one day soon. Indoors just doesn't feel the same for me!  I had to get photoshop happy to make these a bit brighter so hope they don't look too over procesesed.  Hope everyone is having a happy and healthy Summer (or Winter depending on where you are in the world!)
