The rain is pouring down outside on my one day off this week so I may postpone my planned shopping trip today and stay cosy inside instead!
This bank holiday weekend feels like a million years ago, but it was truly the last day of Summer we had. We visited Newcastle, a seaside town in Co. Down, for a vintage and antique fair that was being held. The entrance to the fair was free if you dressed in vintage. I may have been the only person to take note of this but it was fun all the same!
Dress - 50's vintage Shoes - New Look Sunglasses, Purse, Headband - vintage
All vintage apart from my New Look shoes which I bought for wearing with sundresses ages ago and are on their last leg! The couple who sold me this dress over a year ago were exhibiting at this fair and recognised the dress on me. It must be fun spotting one of 'your' dresses out and about! I lost the white belt I usually wore with it and I think it needs something to replace it. To really go for the 50s look I should try a bigger petticoat but I like the simplicity of it here. The embroidery and the green colour are just so pretty and it's in great condition.
The fair was held in a beautiful hotel, the Slieve Donard. Here I am pretending my transport has arrived.
After purchasing a new dress, sparkly necklace, felt hat and carved wood table (they were bargains in my defence and I am still lamenting the cocktail ring and handbag I left behind!) we finished the day off with sausage and chips by the sea...classy! A perfect end to the Irish Summer that never really began.
